The work may include assisting molecular biologists to carry out directed evolution by implementing assays for optimizing biocatalysts and doing follow-up characterization of enzyme hits and leads. Candidates should have knowledge and experience in protein purification, and various biophysical methods for characterizing enzymes (including kinetic analysis) and identifying products/intermediates. Proficiency in spectroscopy, HPLC, LC-MS, GC, microscopy (fluorescent) and related analytical methods.
Molecular Biology (Job Code-DKC-RA-MB) - This position will involve engineering microbes (bacterial, yeast or fungi) for high level production of industrial proteins and chemicals. The successful applicant will have expertise in all routine molecular biology techniques including DNA and RNA purification, PCR, primer design, restriction analysis, gel purification, cloning (transformation, electroporation, etc.), gene knock-out/in, high level protein expression, bioinformatics analysis for manipulation of DNA sequences (e.g. Vector NTI), designing of PCR primers, DNA shuffling, mutagenesis and screening. The work may also include establishing novel assays for screening microbial recombinants to support strain development programs.
Fermentation Science (Job Code-DKC-RA-FS) - The successful candidates will interact with a larger multidisciplinary group including biochemists and molecular biologists, in support of metabolic engineering and biocatalysis programs. The successful candidates will execute fermentation experiments in shake flask and small scale fermentors (continuous, fed-batch, and batch) and analyze data to achieve microbe and process optimization goals. Candidates must have demonstrated ability to execute and analyze fermentation experiments and expected to maintain knowledge of the state-of-the-art in fermentation sciences and to maintain expertise within multiple technologies in the areas of biocatalysis and metabolic engineering.
Qualifications for all Positions
1 M.Sc. or M.Tech. degree in Biochemistry, Biotechnology, Microbiology, Molecular Biology, Chemical/Fermentation Engineering, or any other relevant scientific disciplines, with at least 1-2 years of laboratory experience (industry experience preferred).
